You ask, we listen!

Not only have we extended the timeframe for submissions, we are also posting THREE prompts to hopefully spark your imagination. Stories are 500 words or less and can be in any genre: fiction, non-fiction, poetry, limerick, memoir, sci-fi, horror, fantasy…the field is wide open.

Can you submit more than one piece? Yes, you can!

Can you submit excerpts from your previously published work or your work-in-progress? Yes, you can!

The only “rules” are (1) the word count and (2) have fun! For full details, see this post.

Deadline for submissions is 15 March, and the top 5 – 7 entries will be posted on 22 March. One randomly selected author will receive a $50.00 gift card for your choice of Amazon, Book Gallery West, or Barnes & Noble (opening soon!)—and we are very much looking forward to adding the independent bookstore The Lynx to this list! (Bonus made possible by an anonymous donor. Thanks, Anonymous!)

And now—here are your prompts:

Double Exposure 1965

Coca-Cola 1945

P.S. After Ginny Brinkley’s poem “Forever Friends” was posted to our first Flash Friday prompt, her granddaughter—New York City based soprano and singer/songwriter Britt Hewitt—turned the poem into a song. Ginny said, “She surprised me with it on Christmas. I was sobbing. She did the whole thing herself—all the voices are her, and the piano, and she produced it. She is quite talented!”

We agree!

Listen to this beautiful song here.
