Mallory M. O’Connor Lecture

The A. Quinn Jones History Museum, a historic residence in Gainesville, Florida, is hosting a lecture  by WAG member Mallory O’Connor on Sunday, September 12 at 3:30 p.m. O’Connor will talk about her American River Trilogy, which deals with issues of immigration and prejudice.

The A. Quinn Jones house, which was added to the National Register of Historic Places on January 27, 2010, is located at 1013 NW 7th Avenue, Gainesville, Florida, 32601.

The home is now a museum honoring A. Quinn Jones, who in 1923 became the first principal of Lincoln High School. Mr. Jones was a leading force in advancing educational opportunities for African Americans in Gainesville.

O’Connor is a writer, an art historian, and a musician. She holds degrees in art, art history, and American history from Ohio University. For twenty years she taught art history at the University of Florida and at Santa Fe College.
