Museum Night at the Harn

September 8, 2022, 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm

On the second Thursday of each month, the Harn Museum on the University of Florida campus invites speakers and artists to help visitors connect with art in fun and interesting ways. WAG has been invited to participate in the September 8 program.

In addition, a poetry reading will be hosted by ARTSPEAKS organizer and Alachua County Poet Laureate E. Stanley Richardson in collaboration with the Civic Media Center’s Thursday Night Poetry Jam collective. Poets and spoken word artists of all types are invited to participate in this very special open mic. Come share your words, or just come to listen as we celebrate the many connections between the spoken and written word and the visual arts.

Here’s the Harn’s description of the evening:

Wall Talk

Join us for off the wall activities relating to art on the walls in Speechless: Text & Image in Global Culture. Art-making, poetry readings, docent tours and performances will make our walls talk…and dance! Guest artists include muralist Jenna Horner, Alachua County poet laureate E. Stanley Richardson and Harn choreographers-in-residence. Learn more from our tabling partners about local treasures: the Writers Alliance of Gainesvilleand the Civic Media Center. Food trucks will have a limited number of free vouchers, snacks also available for purchase. Museum Nights are free and open to all!

WAG members will be there promoting the 2023 Sunshine State Book Festival.
