How to Write a Travel Narrative

January 10, 2016, 2:30 pm

Fiona Lama, an adjunct English teacher at Santa Fe College and a library specialist with the Alachua County Library District, discussed the elements that make travel narratives different from other non-fiction essays. Following her presentation, the audience had the opportunity to draft the beginning of their own travel narrative and receive feedback.

In connection to Lama’s interest in travel stories, she has logged thousands of miles across the big pond with 20 trips to Europe and 40 to London. After earning a master’s degree in education from the University of Florida, she pursued her second master’s in English and creative writing. She is a member of the National League of American Penwomen and has two works online: an essay, “Facing Fear in Lovely London,” and a short story, “I Saw Dead People.”
